In a small town near Vienna, a baroque house was refurbished
and extended with modern architecture, thus improving its
building physics to an extent that “Passiv house standard” was
achieved. The idea to reinterpret courtyard building came from
clients experience with housing in Arabian countries. This for-
gotten typology, it was common in whole of Europe aswell,
shows clear advantages to the “modern” single family house.
Allowing density thus creating urban spaces and still providing
maximum of privacy.
